I agree. Although we spent some time in school on this, it was mostly high-level and didn’t really delve into specifics around how our parliamentary system actually operates.
I think it’s easier for citizens to become disillusioned by their government (and democracy in general) when there is a lack of understanding around how things actually get done and not just the juicy sound bites that make the headlines.
This is great, Corey. Really appreciate the inside insight from someone who is, clearly, interested in how Parliament works, why it matters, how it’s done, etc. Thanks for sharing!
Much appreciated. I'd personally love to see this form take up much more of the schedule of work, & not in evening hours; surely it is core to the "business" to be done!
Our kids live in your riding and def voted for you! BTW, have you read the book Major Farran’s Hat ? It starts in Palestine and ends with the “good” major as the PC incumbent MLA for several elections in your area. He died in 2006, age 85. Excellent read. Keep up the good fight.
TIL! I loved this!
I think every Canadian could and should learn more about how the machinery of their democracy works.
And I am SO PROUD that you are my MP, Corey!
